About Annai Foundation

Annai Foundation is a Canadian not-for-profit organization ("the foundation"). We are not a CRA-registered charity; donations are not eligible for official donation tax receipts. By using annai.ca or making a donation, you agree to these terms.

Monthly donations

• We do not take payment through this website. Support is arranged directly with our team after you contact us through the Get Involved form.
• Once arranged, donations are a recurring subscription of $28 CAD per month, charged to your payment card by our payment processor, Stripe, until you cancel.
• You can cancel at any time from your account's billing page; cancellation stops all future charges.
• Donations are voluntary gifts. You receive no goods or services in return.
• We issue donation receipts as acknowledgments of your giving. They are not official donation tax receipts and should not be used to claim charitable tax credits.

How funds are used

Most of each $28 CAD monthly donation is transferred to the paired mother of Tamileelam through local partners — she receives 5,000 LKR per month. The remainder is retained by the foundation to cover the cost of moving the money and running the program: payment processing, bank charges, transfer fees, and currency movement. These costs vary from month to month, so the foundation does not publish a fixed split.

The foundation also retains a reserve. Exchange rates move, costs change, and a donor may stop giving at short notice — and a mother who has been promised support should not lose it while a replacement donor is found.

The foundation's representative in Tamileelam receives an honorarium. They travel between villages to carry out the work on the ground — arranging transfers, meeting the mothers, and taking the photographs donors receive — and the honorarium covers the cost of doing so. It is a contribution toward expenses incurred on the foundation's behalf, not a salary, and no other person is paid from donor funds.

A full record of what was actually spent is published each January, and the foundation will provide the underlying records to any donor who asks.

Pairings are made by the foundation and may change — for example if a beneficiary leaves the program. Where a direct transfer is temporarily not possible, the foundation will apply funds to the program's purpose at its discretion.

Refunds

Donations are generally non-refundable. If a charge was made in error or without authorization, contact info@annai.ca within 30 days and we will review and, where appropriate, refund it.

Your account

You are responsible for keeping your login credentials secure and for the accuracy of the information you provide. We may suspend or close accounts used fraudulently or abusively.

Acceptable use

You agree not to misuse the site: no attempts to access other donors' or beneficiaries' information, disrupt the service, or use it for unlawful purposes. Beneficiary stories and photos on this site may not be reproduced or used outside annai.ca without written permission.

Liability

The site is provided "as is". To the maximum extent permitted by law, the foundation's liability to you in connection with the site or your donations is limited to the amount you donated in the twelve months preceding the claim.

Governing law and changes

These terms are governed by the laws applicable in Canada. We may update these terms; material changes will be reflected on this page with a new "last updated" date. Continued use of the site after changes means you accept the updated terms.
